Book – The Parish of Emly it’s History and Heritage

Emly natives, Michael and Liam O Dwyer published this parish history in 1987.The book is the result of several years researching primary sources. It gives a detailed account of all important events ranging from Emly as a monastic centre to Emly’s role in the War of Independence.

The authors give a very comprehensive account of land ownership, tenants and residents throughout the centuries. Therefore this book is an invaluable resource for people with Emly roots when researching family history.

Few parishes have their history as well researched as Emly has and for this we are indebted to the authors of this book.
